An uninvited guest joins this tour group

For many years Liz Vincent has been collecting stories from local residents about paranormal activities within their homes and workplaces. Liz will share these tales of Macarthur's scariest residents and haunted hideaways on her tours of the area.
At the end of each tour you will get to browse through a display of paranormal activity photos taken
on previous tours, as well as ghostly accounts experienced by previous tour participants. You will also be given the opportunity to write up any paranormal experience you might have had on your tour.

On this tour, walk the streets of Lower Picton hearing about the ghosts of Picton past. This tour will take you past many haunted sites and where you will learn about their ghostly occupants. And like many before you, may even see or hear them.
As you view homes and buildings on the walk, Liz gives a very brief history of each site, relates the paranormal activity and tells the odd gory story to connect to a haunting.
See where the baker cut his throat, the shopkeeper hanged herself and where young Andrew Knox shot himself dead.
Stories are told of paranormal experiences in days gone by and on previous tours.
Then it's up the hill to the Redbank Range Tunnel, aka The Mushroom Tunnel. It's also a little darker. It's here the highlight of the evening occurs when participants are taken to an historic, disused railway tunnel and must be brave enough to stand in the dark to watch and wait.
All tours subject to change without notice.
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF CONDITIONS: The Redbank Range Tunnel was temporarily closed by Council due to safety reasons. Now the only access to the site is via the ghost tours. Tours will access the site but only to the entrance of the tunnel. From here we get very good vision into the tunnel. Participants will need to drive from downtown to the Tunnel and then will access the Upper Picton Cemetery as part of the tour. This notice will be changed immediately full access to the tunnel is again made available. Participants own transport needed from Lower Picton to Tunnel and Cemetery.

The tour starts just below the haunted Imperial Hotel and walks first to the railway station area. Hear about the ghosts on the platform, the white lady on the railway line and the railway cottages in Campbell Street.
Then challenge the Victoria Bridge ghost and up Prince Street to Argyle Street, past many haunted houses to the very eerie primary school.
You will tackle the old disused railway tunnel before venturing to the creek under the Stonequarry Viaduct where many swimmers met a watery death to finally finish back at Menangle Street.
Again Liz talks about the history of the sites and reveals the identity of many of the ghosts from her research.

As you walk you will view many haunted sites and hear tales of paranormal activity within.
Look for the ghost of John Earnshaw, the murdered shoemaker and see the site of his savage death, the same place the schoolmaster's children died and where they still wander.
Watch for the ghost horse, responsible for the death of Laura Evans seen rearing over her lifeless body.
Finish the Upper Picton section of the tour with a walk through the Upper Picton General Cemetery and hear the fascinating stories of some of the permanent residents. Burials here include the pirate Antonio Manolis, first greek settler in NSW and Emily Bollard, the ghost in the tunnel.

Studley Park House was built in 1889 by William Payne. It was often called "Paynes Folly" as the cost sent him broke and he was forced to sell it to his builder Francis Buckle.
The next owner was Dr Henry Oliver who ran the Camden Grammar School there from 1903 to 1933.
Arthur Gregory purchased the site in 1933 as a private residence until he sold it the government during WW2 for army purposes. It is now owned by the Camden Golf Club.
For many years it has been inaccessible to the public though stories of it being haunted have been talked about for years.
Several staff members have had eerie experiences when accessing the building.
Used as a site for the television series "Scream Test", convinced locals the building was indeed very haunted from the cellars to the tower.
Two of the ghosts there are thought to be Ray Blackstone aged 14 who drowned in a dam in 1909 and Noel Gregory, 13, who tragically died of appendicitis in 1937. Their bodies lay in the house until burial.
Liz Vincent Tours now exclusively conducts tours through the house on a Friday night. Participants also enjoy a delicious two course meal at the adjoining clubhouse during the evening.

About 7ks west of Picton lies "Mowbray Park", an imposing colonial home set high on a hill at the junctions of the roads to Picton, Thirlmere, The Oaks and Oakdale. It was built in 1884 and has been a private home, a hospital for shell-shocked soldiers after WW1 and a Dr Barnardos Home for children.
It is now owned by Dr Joseph and Margaret Couch and run as a farm stay, retreat and riding holiday farm.
There are a number of buildings on the property and many stories of paranormal activity have been reported by guests and staff.
We had several successful tours there over the last couple of years.
Participants will have access to buildings not occupied by paying guests or family. Participants will be given a tour of the property hearing tales of hauntings followed by supper at 9pm. Following this, you are free to explore.
Mowbray Park offers bed and breakfast for $75 per person.
Those interested should book and pay for the tour and supper with Liz and the accommodation with Blair, manager at Mowbray Park on 4680 9243.

"Wivenhoe" is now part of the Mater Dei complex run by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. The house was built c. 1837 and was a private home until 1910 when it was purchased by the Sisters as an orphange. The orphanage closed in 1957.
The house is now used for functions and daytime historic tours.
This is a special opportunity to visit this historic house after dark.
It has a definite paranormal presence.
The tour is in two parts. First is a presentation by "Colonial Surgeon" Mark Peters, followed by supper then a ghost tour of this magnificent historic home. You will then be free to explore the house. Investigative equipment and cameras welcome.
Mark Peters is a medical historian with a difference. He examines the "how" part of mediacl history and challenges participants to consider what it may have been like to seek medical assistance in pre-anaesthetic days. He will show you strange items of medical equipment and tell you how it would have been used in the 1700s.
It is a brilliant presentation and guaranteed to make you squirm. Mark's engaging style captivates audiences wherever he presents.
